Patti Day is Ph D candidate and lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Her dissertation work is on legal, political, ethical and data access issues involving geographic information systems (GIS). She has 10 years experience teaching GIS, cartography, map reading and analysis skills. She has also worked for 7 years as a digital spatial data librarian where she developed policies and procedures for acquiring, distributing, licensing and managing GIS data sets. This work involved close negotiations with local, state, federal and tribal data producers to achieve satisfactory use agreements in the academic sector. Patti is active in the Wisconsin Land Information Association, the Association of American Geographers, the University Consortium of Geographic Information Science and the Wisconsin ESRI Users Group.
